Ahavas Sholom Honors Frontline Workers

Going to work during this COVID-19 pandemic has placed frontline workers under immense and unprecedented pressure, putting their physical, mental and social well-being at risk.

Join us on Saturday, March 6th, immediately following services, as we celebrate and honor one of those frontline workers, Omar Rodriguez, Manager of Materials Management at Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, Ahavas Sholom’s community hospital.

Mr. Rodriguez is the person responsible for securing and providing PPE to fellow hospital workers throughout the Prime Health Care Hospital system in New Jersey.

He will talk about the challenges and stresses he and his colleagues have faced on a daily basis during Covid, the unique challenges Saint Michael’s Medical Center faces everyday as an urban-community hospital, even when it isn’t dealing with a national pandemic, and how the hospital has fared and evolved since the beginning of Covid, from March to this day.

This will be the first of a series of events in which Ahavas Sholom will honor frontline workers.

As we all know, frontliners were confronted with huge obstacles, especially early on in the pandemic.  Join us this Shabbat, immediately following services, to help honor Mr. Rodriguez, and hear him talk about the difficulties he and his colleagues have confronted, and how they responded.

The schedule for Shabbat is:

9:30 am — Preliminary Prayers and P’Sukei D’Zimra.

10 am — Shacharit, followed by the Torah Service, Musaf, and Kiddush.

After Kiddush we will honor Omar Rodriguez.
