In support of Menstrual Equity, Ahavas Sholom is PROUD to announce our most recent Tikkun Olam Initiative in Partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women/Essex (NCJW/Essex) and the The Flow Initiative of NJ.
Through this initiative, we are providing menstrual products to schools, libraries and shelters in Newark. This is a direct outgrowth of our commitment to social justice reforms and implementing reparative programs to meet existing social justice challenges in our great City of Newark.
Thus far, due to the NCJW’s national campaign and their commitment to educating the public, our partnership finds us in 3 high schools – Science Park High School, Arts High, and East Side High School; presently involved in setting up a Pilot Program in the Newark Public Library system; as well as working with various city shelters through our collaboration with United Community Corp. (UCC).
And it is only the beginning! Please join us to help eradicate this UNFAIR and UNNECESSARY condition from our community here in Newark.
Additionally, we need washers and dryers; food trucks, etc. to help UCC accomplish its mission of both feeding and providing proper hygiene to the homeless amongst us in Newark. By donating washers and dryers, UCC will be able to provide mobile clothes cleaning services to as many homeless people as possible!
As always, we are open to other’s ideas!
If there is a specific issue you are passionate about, consider using Ahavas Sholom as a conduit to accomplish your goal by partnering together to improve things on the ground.
